Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. When she moved to Oxfordshire in the age group of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. Emma made the decision to become an actor in the age of six. Over the course of several years she was at the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing dance, acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played part in a variety of Stagecoach performances and school plays. The casting process began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre professor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone as well as Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been picked for the role. They cast her alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was also the most popular film of 2001. Opening days and weekends of sales were record-breaking. Reviewers have been highly acclaimed of the film and the performances by the three main young actors. The widely distributed British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the Most Outstanding Young Actress in an Feature Film. Later, she was nominated five times for her performance in the film.
